More than just beaches
Aruba has a ton of nature wonders that thousands of people come to see every year. One of the most recognized ones is its natural bridge. Read along and discover all about it.
The Original Natural Bridge
This natural landmark was located in Arikok National Park, on the eastern coast of Aruba.
The curious thing about it is that it no longer exists. Instead, there is a smaller natural bridge that took its place and, even though it’s not the same, it’s still a landmark of the island.
Unfortunately, in September 2005, the main span of the Natural Bridge collapsed due to natural erosion, leaving only a smaller remnant of the arch. Despite the collapse, the remaining section still attracts tourists who want to see the natural wonders.
Where it is
The Natural Bridge in Aruba was a natural rock formation that was carved out by the forces of wind and water over thousands of years. It was one of Aruba’s most famous landmarks and a popular tourist attraction. Also, it was formed from coral limestone and measured about 25 feet high and 100 feet long.
The Baby Bridge in Aruba is the remaining natural rock formation located near the Natural Bridge site. Even though it’s a smaller version of the Natural Bridge, it is also formed from coral limestone.
About Baby Bridge
The Baby Bridge gets its name from its smaller size compared to the larger and now-collapsed Natural Bridge. It’s accessible by car or tour bus, and there is a parking area nearby for visitors.
Like the Natural Bridge, the Baby Bridge was created over time by the erosive forces of wind and water. It attracts visitors who appreciate its unique formation and the scenic views of the surrounding coastline.
It is a popular spot for photography and enjoying the rugged beauty of Aruba’s coastal landscapes.
A couple of other natural beauties you must explore in Aruba are the Ayo and Casibari rock formations, the California Lighthouse, and the stunning beaches that dot the coastline.
Excursions
There are a few expeditions available for booking that include visits to Baby Bridge. One of them is Trip Advisor’s Jeep Safari Tour, which, passes by the bridge as part of their Arikok National Park portion.
The tour is almost 10 hours long and it costs approximately $133 per person.
Another option that you can go for is Viator’s Full Island Tour, a 7-hour tour that retails from $65 per person.
