  A Gem in the North  - Always on the lookout for good accommodation north of Palm Beach, we thought the Ocean Z looked worth a try for our brief pre-cruise stay on our favourite Caribbean island.... Read more Set back across the road from the waterfront, the hotel blends in nicely with the private homes along that stretch. The hotel’s parking spaces in front of it are adequate for the number of hotel guests, but space might be harder to find during dinner hours when the hotel’s restaurant attracts diners from outside.

After the excellent pre-arrival communications asking about our preferences, special occasions, etc., we were a little deflated to find no-one at the reception desk when we entered. A staff member soon showed up, though, to check us in, share useful information and help us to our room at the rear of the property overlooking the pool. We had mentioned that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary, but were surprised to find our room beautifully decorated in appropriate fashion and with a bottle of champagne on the table, chilling for us. A nice touch, very well-executed.

Our room with two king beds was spacious and comfortable, but with no remarkable features until we opened the bathroom door. Wow, it was outdoors, and with the largest shower space we’ve ever seen. The sink, vanity and toilet are under cover, but the huge shower enclosure exposed to the sky – all perfectly private, but with a strange and pleasant feeling of being in the open. We have experienced outdoor bathrooms before, but this memorable feature was more modern and stylish than any of those.

Another nice touch was the loaner beach chairs that we were able to load into our car for the short drive to our favourite beaches. They were actually very comfortable, too.

We had already chosen restaurants for our two-night stay in Aruba, but after enjoying the excellent breakfast that was included in our room rate, we regretted not having dinner at the hotel, either in the air-conditioned restaurant or on the patio outside. We look forward to staying at this excellent, small hotel again on our next visit to Aruba and will be sure to make a dinner reservation there, too.

The restaurant at the hotel was the best food we had on the island, and we tried all of the top places (get the risotto!). I was very happy that I did not book an all-inclusive at one of the big hotels, because the personal service we received and the peace and quiet being away from the downtown area was exactly what I was looking for.   Beautiful and quiet with the personal touch  - For our third trip to Aruba, we decided to try something different. We had seen the glowing reviews for Ocean Z but were reluctant to stay somewhere that wasn't right... Read more on a sandy beach and required a car. Our fears were completely unfounded. This was quite possibly the best hotel experience we've ever had. Days before we arrived, Maria and Carolina were in touch about how they could make our experience special, and wow did they come through! This trip was to celebrate my wife's birthday, and when we arrived, our room was fully decorated with signs, candy and a bottle of prosecco. The birthday celebrations continued over dinner at their amazing restaurant, and even the next morning at breakfast - which is included with the room and is fantastic! We were provided beach chairs, fresh beach towels daily, an ice bucket, and water bottles. Maria made reservations for an umbrella at Arashi Beach and gave great recommendations for things to see as we explored the island. As for the hotel itself, it is quiet and private. The room was spotless and beautiful, the outdoor shower is special, the pool is refreshing and never crowded. Everything in the room was cleaned and restocked daily. Yes, you need to rent a car, but it was easy, much cheaper than taking taxis everywhere, and gave us the flexibility to see parts of the island we hadn't visited before. (Highly recommend sunset from the lighthouse, natural bridge, and baby beach.) We also loved some of the small beaches close by that are frequented more by locals. Just a perfect hotel stay and we can't wait to return.

Read more felt like we were the only ones there because of how attentive the staff was to us. The complimentary breakfast is delicious, it is within walking distance from Arashi Beach, and the entire hotel experience is clean and inviting. The infinity pool is a nice little escape if you are not quite ready to head to the beach yet. If you are planning a beach day, they will provide you with beach chairs, towels, and a cooler with ice. Don't forget to try their amazing restaurant, you WILL NOT be disappointed! Cannot wait for our next trip, until then, see you soon!

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with Champagne with a view from the water across the street! All the staff gave us exceptional service, but especially Vivi! She truly made us feel at home. She was so kind, funny, and so welcoming that my boyfriend and I looked forward to seeing her each day for breakfast. Anything we needed, we would call the front desk, and it was brought up in minutes. The food was AH-MAZING!!!! We had dinner at the hotel on our first night with food cooked by a French chef, and it was to die for. There was live music, and it was a lovely atmosphere. While eating, the hotel owner would visit each table to ensure we were doing okay. Breakfast is included and served to your liking each morning. There is a cute little cove next to the hotel, Tres Trapi, that my boyfriend and I fell in love with. We were able to watch the sunset and be in a quieter spot on the beach where it felt like just the two of us. We navigated the island using the bus, which was like $3 USD one way, which was cheap and we were able to go into town or visit Eagle/Palm Beach. We cannot wait to book our next trip and return to Ocean Z Boutique. It was nice to be away from the busy hotel strip and enjoy a quieter, laid-back atmosphere.

We stayed here for a week.
We ate at the restaurant four times. We have never done that, but the food was that good. Try the Paella, ceviche, sea basstiramisu is perfect.

Maria & Vivian were there whenever we needed anything. Always smiling, helpful , anticipating, and super smart. Eva and her son Kiki were at dinner every night - smiling even at the busiest times. Eva personally answered many questions, and would text to check on us. She has been in the business for over 30 years and executes beautifully with grace and humor.

For example, when we inquired about a good yoga class, Eva called a friend Maria who shared a great practice on the private second floor deck.

If you like crowds, constant music, drinking all day / night - stay in palm beach.

If you want to relax, connect, and experience Aruba, stay at the OceanZ.

Every morning we had the biggest breakfast (which was included in the price per night) any type of eggs with pancakes and waffles, Arepas, fruit, yogurt, it was just what we needed to start our busy days.
The staff was great, the attention you get from everybody is so VIP. Anything we asked for they will get it or help us get it
If you are looking for a VIP treatment in a very elegant and quiet area this is the place to stay
The restaurant was also amazing, we ate most of our dinners at the hotel, we recommend the Paella, the lamb chops and the shrimp pasta!
This is the place we will stay when we come back, no question about it.

  We chose Ocean Z Boutique for our first trip to Aruba. We picked this hotel based on reviews and location. My husband and I wanted to stay in a less... Read more populated area and away from the mainstream hotels. Keeping in mind location is further from some of the more popular places on the island, renting a car may be a good idea. However because it was our first time we opted not to rent one. You’ll want to keep a few taxi drivers/car service numbers handy. Most taxi operators use WhatsApp, so if you don’t have the app you may want to download before arriving. There is also a public bus that stops right by the hotel, which we didn’t realize until a few days into our trip.
Back to our stay at Ocean Z! Our stay was absolutely lovely. We booked a junior suite room. When we checked in we were offered a welcome glass of champagne. Our room was located on the second level and was very quiet. The outdoor shower was nice and my husband really enjoyed it. Daily breakfast was a nice touch! Must try the arepas! However these need to be ordered the day before. The arepas are filling and ended having them boxed for lunch. Vi was our morning server was so sweet and attentive.
Ocean Z offers a shuttle to Arashi beach, they can also provide chairs but if you’d like a beach umbrella and chairs they offer to call ahead and have it set up for a fee. You can also request a fruit salad and some light treats to be boxed for your beach trip!
During our stay there were not many other guests. It was nice as to have the pool to ourselves and we were able to enjoy most mornings.
We also dined at the Ocean Z restaurant twice. The food was delicious and the ambiance delightful. Prices would be considered more upscale dining and worth the splurge at least once.
The staff at Ocean Z were all very friendly. Luisa especially went out of her way to make sure everything was okay. If we had any questions or issues she was a text away.
We enjoyed our first time in Aruba and glad we chose to stay at Ocean Z. We would stay here again and would definitely recommend staying here, if you’re looking for a peaceful escape!

Helpful tips:
- Download WhatsApp if you don’t already have it.
- If one of your stays at Ocean Z lands on a Tuesday make sure you make any inquiries earlier in the day. This seems to be the day most of staff is off and the restaurant is closed. There is no one at the front desk and the front entrance is locked.
- Ask the hotel for some taxi service numbers so you have handy if needed.
- Public bus stops right in front of hotel. They seem to run fairly often, not sure of operating times.
- There are some local restaurants not too far from the hotel (will need to drive or take taxi) that are worth trying and more budget friendly.

Diana and Wendy served us dinner and they were fantastic! They surprised my mom with a birthday song and dessert!! Viiiiiii, she was our breakfast server!! She’s the sweetest of them all, probably because she’s also the youngest! Vi made sure that we had our breakfast exactly the way we wanted every morning. She made a perfect mimosa and was quick to not make us wait very long on anything we ordered! Michael was our driver. He was so kind and sweet. He took us to the beach every day and played really good music on the way there. You have to live a Michael! Luisa, the property manager, deserves a standing ovation!!! She took care of everything!! She never missed a beat! In fact, I don’t know how she deals with a lot of guest at once, because she’s super attentive! Herman, the owners son, and his daughter were a delight! It really felt like we were all family! It’s really a family oriented boutique hotel. It’s all love!!! I am definitely coming back to Aruba and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. The people here are doing a job, but it’s with such love and care that it draws you in and makes you want to stay longer!! I’m sooo glad I stayed here!!!
